Two Guys, One Boat

In 2012 two best mates who will take on one of the toughest challenges in world boat racing, attempting to cross the Atlantic Ocean. There’s only one problem: They have never been to sea in their lives, okay maybe two problems… they are making the journey in a homemade pedalo…

But this pair aren’t mugs when it comes to engineering. Mark, a qualified design engineer and Mike, technical assistant to members of the board at Bentley Motors, have a wholly credible engineering background.

In the best tradition of Britain’s most brilliant innovators, and our country’s battiest adventurers, twentysomethings Mark Byass and Mike Sayer are confident, not only that they will complete the 3,000 miles across the Atlantic Ocean, but also that they can win the famous Woodvale Challenge and pedal their way into the record books with the only active ocean-going pedal boat in the world! They’ll also be raising £250k for charity.

They’ve calculated how many pedal rotations it will take (4.5 million if you were wondering), they’ve measured how many calories they will need to consume (1 million by the way). Lads being lads, they’ve even estimated how many litres of vomit they’re going to spew up (40 litres). Disgusting, I know.
